Ok, I’m back to blogging! 5 weeks?! Sometimes you just need a break. These days it seems like I need more than I did a decade ago. I’ll try to keep this thing going on a semi-regular basis.
It’s nice to see our very own Sacramentans Sister Crayon with a new video for “Cynic,” the title track of their latest EP. I love the look of this video-in a dark black studio, with purple flowers raining down on the ground. Also, how the bright colors standout.
This booth that Jack White set up in Nashville for Record Store Day was a great idea. Neil Young was photographed coming out of it, and Jack White covered a woman he produced-Loretta Lynn’s classic “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” Pretty cool, although I wish the quality was a little bit better.
*Thom Yorke doesn’t know who Bruno Mars is. Is that cool or sad?
*Here’s a nice list of the Top 10 Greatest Alt Country Bands. It’s sad to be reminded of bands like Wilco and The Jayhawks completely abandoning it.
