...And the "Best Album Title of the year Award goes to....."
Yo La Tengo! (insert applause here)
Yes, Yo La Tengo's new album "I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass" is due out on Tuesday, and it's another solid release.
There's sprawling guitar epics that weigh in at over 11 minutes, to magical ambient beauty in the instrumental, "Daphnia."
Hey, and don't worry kids, they still can rock, with garage rock rave-ups like "Watch Out For Me Ronnie."
This trio is obviously an accomplished group of musicians. Their improvisational skills are impeccable, proving that in 2004 by making up a soundtrack as they went along, to a light show in New York City.
They've scored four films since their last record Summer Sun, and made a covers album, Murdering the Classics in 2004. Yo La Tengo proved they have a vast knowledge of rock history, and how skilled they are as musicians.
You won't be disappointed with the new album. The band somehow finds a way to keep broadening their horizons. They have hit the mark once again, demonstrating that they rank among the indie elite.
