Fujiya & Miyagi
It's time now for a musical pop quiz kids!
What do the names Fujiya and Miyagi mean in pop culture?
Miyagi was Pat Morita's character in The Karate Kid (Elizabeth Shue....mmmmm...)
Fujiya is the name of a record player. (Mmmm......oh wait).
Don't ask us why anybody would take those two names and say, "Dude, I've got it, Fujiya and Miyagi," especially when they are now a trio. Then again, a bunch of guys sat around a table and named themselves worse names like Bread and Yes.
These guys are sharp and witty, serving up electronica better than Ralph Macchio's "Wax on, wax off" any day. Their UK album doesn't drop until January 23rd in the States, but that hasn't stopped us from doing our best Beavis and Butthead dance, in the meantime.
Thanks to an MTV2 documentary called This Is Our Music, where the band was featured for an episode, anticipation has ran high for the new release Transparent Things. You may hear much more about the record in the coming weeks.
