Our favorite San Francisco envelope-pushers Deerhoof are back, with their new release Friend Opportunity on January 23rd.
Expect the usual experimental vibe, but with the bands unique touch of lofty craftsmanship.
The bands direction took an interesting turn after longtime guitarist Chris Cohen departed to focus on his other band, The Curtains.
Now there is an updated sound, focusing on more beat rhythms, and a sweeter vocal delivery from Satomi Matsuzaki.
The results are as good as ever. As Mike Watt (Minutemen) says, "Deerhoof doesn't write songs, they write rivers."
Enjoy the madness.

Deerhoof-Cast Off Crown mp3 both from Friend Opportunity out January 23rd

Thanks for the mention! Wanted to say that I don't think Watt ever said that about us, although he said it about the Minutemen and then Michael Azzerad said it about FO. Have a Happy New Year,
Greg
