I've just decided that I like bands out of Pennsylvania. Yup...just now.
Before, I was more of a "bands out of California" kind of guy. Then I started thinking. There might be more to offer.
"Maybe I should embrace the P.A, buy some Quaker oats, and make sweet love to some Teddy Pendergrass," I thought.
I was sold, ready to dive into the music scene, full steam ahead....and then....some.....thing.....happened.
"Dear God, that means I have to like Poison, Hall and Oates and DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince! AAAAAAAAAAAHH, MY SPLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Right then and there, the experiment failed. Well, until I ran into this band Illinois the other day. Yes, that would be Illinois from Pennsylvania. Confused yet?
After hearing about them playing at CMJ, and now SXSW, the band is going to release their new EP, "What The Hell Do I Know," on Ace Fu March 6th. They've been called everything from Guided by Voicesesque to The Kinksesque. You be the judge.
