If you're in a state of mourning, then you should probably stay away from the new release by James Yorkston, The Year of the Leopard. Instead, we recommend shaving your head bald. Maybe go clubbing in a two-piece. That might be better.
On the serious tip, this record is a spare piece of beauty.
Warm harmonies with acoustic guitar occupy the space in the room to gorgeous effect. It's hard to believe that Yorkston, who seems to have almost mastered the folk genre with this release, was once in a punk band. You've got to be kidding me! If you see Yorkston live, maybe you can scream for "God Save The Queen," or something.
If you're into Damien Rice or Elvis Perkins, check this guy out. A highlight of the year thus far.
