Elk City frontwoman Renee Lobue is an amazing talent. She's been called "a female Bowie engaged in a three-way with Hope Sandoval and Patti Smith," by Village Voice, to "a firebrand-soft and gentle one minute, raising the hairs on your neck the next," by Popmatters.
The New York four piece make great pop songs that are eclectic and contagious.
After the breakup of Luna a couple of years back, the band called up guitarist Sean Eden, who's fluid style fits nicely alongside Lobue's delivery. Throw in ex-Lovelies bassist Barbara Endes on the new album, and you have a dynamic set of musicians.
Honestly, I've heard two different release dates for the album. If you believe their label Friendly Fire Recordings, it's out today, but on the bands Myspace page and Amazon, New Believers drops April 17th. Thanks Dan!
Elk City-Cherries In The Snow mp3
Elk City-Los Cruzados mp3 both from New Believers out April 17th
Elk City on Myspace

the release date is april 17, although the album is available for preorder on the friendly fire website. sorry for any confusion!
