They named their band while taking an eight hour trip to an anti-Bush rally. They wanted a name that would be vulgar, so they went with The Coathangers, their take on the abortion issue.
There's an irreverent tone throughout most of their tracks, as witnessed by titles like "Nestle In My Boobies," and "Don't Touch My S**t," but they are far from a novelty act.
There have been a lot of comparisons to The Slits, and rightfully so.
