Sunny Day Real Estate Do "Seven" On Jimmy Fallon

It's nice to see people appreciate Sunny Day Real Estate again, as they are back cranking out "Seven" for Jimmy Fallon.  

We could count all of the bands that SDRE have influenced over the last decade or more for about a half an hour. 

The reissue of Diary is worth another listen, which was re-released in the last month. Check it out.

Original Drummer From R.E.M. Reunites/Jams With Former Bandmates

It's good to see former R.E.M. drummer Bill Berry get behind the drum set again. He showed up at the 40 Watt Club in Athens to meet up with Peter Buck and Mike Mills on stage the other night.

The boys appear to be having a good time doing The Beatles "The Ballad of John and Yoko," and The McCoys "Hang On Sloopy." No Michael Stipe though.

Berry quit to become a farmer after suffering a brain aneurysm on stage in the mid-90's.

McCartney Citi Field Gigs Coming Out On CD/DVD

That historic run that Paul McCartney did at Citi Field in New York is coming out on CD and DVD. It will be called Good Evening New York City, with 33-songs, filmed with 15 high-definition cameras, plus an additional 75 flipcams were distributed to the audience. Also, as an added bonus, deluxe DVD's will include the rooftop performance for the Late Show With David Letterman. Look for it on November 17th.

Raveonettes Reveal New Video For "Last Dance"

The Raveonettes have unveiled their video for "Last Dance" which you could file away under "David Lynch." The stuffed birds sing in their eerie way in just about every scenario, after the romantic opening. 

Some beautiful backdrops though. Try and not dream about those birds. Good luck.

Shins Frontman and Danger Mouse Form Band

James Mercer dumped two guys from The Shins because he felt he was stuck in a rut and needed to shake things up. It turns out he didn't need to fire them after all-he's got a new project that could sack The Shins altogether. 

Mercer and Danger Mouse have a new project called Broken Bells, and according to Mercer himself, this isn't a one shot and done project. He's in it for the long haul. Gnarls Barkley out too?

Look for it early 2010.

Statement Released In Death Set Guitarist Beau Velasco's Death

The Death Set have posted a message on their website announcing the passing of Beau Velasco, who died on Sunday in New York City.

The statement reads-

"R.I.P. my dear brother, friend and band mate Beau Velasco. We are all so devastated that I will keep this short. We love you and you will be missed. You affected us all so much in the most positive ways. Our lives would not be as is if not for you. We love you. For all those who wish to pay their respects we will let the details be known soon."

No details have been released on his passing yet.
