Badly Drawn Boy Surprises-Releases Free Four Song EP

Badly Drawn Boy took a four year vacation, and I've been dying for some new music from him for about that long. 

Two weeks from now, we will get the full-length for What I'm Thinking Pt. 1 on The End. To hold you over, go scoop up a four song EP that just requires your e-mail address on his Facebook page.

There are a group of artists boycotting Arizona for it's stance on illegal immigrants. Bright Eyes have released a song/video called "Coyote Song." The download of the song is a couple of bucks, with proceeds going towards immigrants and free legal help for them in the state.

I tend to agree with Elton John on this issue, as he made a great observation about this a couple of months back.

We Get Love From Sacramento's News and Reviews Best of Issue

Hey, would you look at that!

I was tipped by a buddy of mine, that this 'ol blog was featured as part of Sacramento's News and Review's Best of Issue. Either look at Page 39, or look online here. 

I'll take the Best Blog From the Dead category, and wear it proudly. I know that they were paying attention to the Indieblogheaven show on KWOD too, as they mention two bands that I played two or three years ago in the writeup. 

Sometimes I've wondered whether I should continue doing this, and it's things like this that make me realize it still may have traction. Thanks for reading, and thanks to SNR. 

The UK Creates Their "Songs That Makes Men Cry" List

First, this survey was done in the UK. Without offending those readers that I have, let's just say they aren't exactly the construction worker type. 

The first thing I thought while reading the Top 10 was that I don't cry at these songs because they make me sad. I cry because a song is horrible! You put on Captain and Tenille's "Muskrat Love" and I'll be sobbing like a baby. Or, Petula Clark's "Downtown" or "Midnight at the Oasis." Now, that I can agree with! Slit your wrists with lemon juice, over at Spinner.

The new Ben Folds/Nick Hornby album Lonely Avenue came out yesterday, and it could be one of the best Ben Folds albums of his career. Having novelist Hornby pen the lyrics was a stroke of genius. Now, an equally compelling video has debuted for "From Above." Watch it below.
