There has been much anticipation in the air for the new Green Day and No Doubt tracks this morning. At least one of them delivered, the other, not so much. First in the case of No Doubt, to be huddled in a studio, and not have new material in over a decade and release this track “Settle Down” is a major disappointment. It sounds like something that didn’t make the cut on one of Gwen Stefani’s solo albums. It will be really interesting to see what the rest of the album, Push and Shove sounds like on September 25th. You’re going to hear it on alternative radio pounded in your brain like it’s the greatest track of all time though, watch. The video will be out tonight (7/16) at 5pm pst. Hear the track here.
The second is the much more likeable Green Day track “Oh Love.” I wouldn’t go off the deep end and say it’s their best song in years, or greatest of all time, but it’s pleasant enough to make you want to hear the rest of the ¡Uno! Release, and also has a decent hook. Look for the first in a trilogy of albums to be released September 25th.
