I'm really into the new Eels track, "New Alphabet." Although it doesn't have a tremendous hook, the structure of the song, particularly the guitar riff on this really makes it happen. It's dirty with some distortion thrown in too. A nice preview from the forthcoming Wonderful, Glorious due February 5th on Vagrant.
Also Eels are playing February 16th at the Fillmore in San Francisco.
Look for the band from Manchester England to release King Of Conflict early 2013. You can get the digital “Dead Man’s Shoes” EP now.
The title track rocks. Prepare to crank it.
The new Johnny Marr track sounds a lot like present day U2, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a very catchy track from the ex-Smiths legend titled "The Right Thing Right." Why did the label not let anybody embed the Soundcloud file, no one knows, but if you want to check it out, go here.
It will be on his forthcoming album, The Messenger on 2/26.
The new record took three years to make. If you are a fan of The Clientele, Alasdair MacLean is half of the duo along with Lupe Núñez-Fernández (Pipas).
Look for the album The House at Sea on January 29, 2013 on Merge Records.
