The new Telekinesis track is mostly reverbed vocals, piano and the soft computerized bass drum thumping along, which is a departure from the straight ahead pop/rock sound that we are typically accustomed to from the band. Maybe that’s because it’s actually under the Telekinesis moniker Dormarion as frontman Benjamin Michael Lerner’s project. Touring under their normal band name, they will drop by San Francisco’s Bottom Of The Hill on April 24th. Stream the track below.
It’s been too long waiting around for Suede to release new material, but we finally get it in the nice new track, “Barriers.” There is a new album coming that will apparently be called “Bloodsports” sometime in March. The good news about a decade long wait? The record should be a good one, as they have had all the time in the world to work on it. via COS
I'm really into the new Eels track, "New Alphabet." Although it doesn't have a tremendous hook, the structure of the song, particularly the guitar riff on this really makes it happen. It's dirty with some distortion thrown in too. A nice preview from the forthcoming Wonderful, Glorious due February 5th on Vagrant.
Also Eels are playing February 16th at the Fillmore in San Francisco.
In a way, The Virginmarys remind me a little bit of The Subways. Both hard rocking trios. No female in the Virginmarys who used to date the lead singer though.

The new Johnny Marr track sounds a lot like present day U2, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a very catchy track from the ex-Smiths legend titled "The Right Thing Right." Why did the label not let anybody embed the Soundcloud file, no one knows, but if you want to check it out, go here.
