There's pretty much one album and one album only this week.
The Strokes "First Impressions of Earth."
Early indications are that this album is decent in spots, not extraordinary.
Playlouder gave one of the best reviews saying
"Turns out what the world was waiting for really was those that saved guitars finally making a record that truly reaped the rewards of their efforts. Is this it? OH GOD YES!"
However, other reviewers haven't exactly called the album a classic.
The Guardian had this to say-
"When the songwriting falls flat, as on Electricityscape or Ize of the World, it sounds dispiritingly less like the Strokes than a mainstream rock band trying to jump on the Strokes' bandwagon, slightly after the event."
Interestingly enough, scores by everyday people, were lower than the critics score on Metacritic.
If you have any thoughts on the new album, we would love to hear them.
It's a piece of shit, unworthy of anyone's attention. Naming a song 'You Only Live Once' isn't funny, it just makes the Strokes scenesters, though I guess it was a self-fulfilling prophecy.
