The popularity of the duo Beach House has reached new heights, thanks to their appearance at the CMJ Festival.
They are from Baltimore, which might be the perfect inspiration for a fall/winter soundtrack like this one. Victoria Legrand's vocals are stunning as she shimmers through organ drenched reverb in her Nico like flavor. It's a slow motion soundtrack for your rainy day blues. A nice release.

Meanwhile, a band with a completely different sound than Beach House, stormed through CMJ last week. Hot Chip had one of the better turnouts of the festival, as they previewed a few new tracks from their upcoming album. Their Kraftwerk like melodies and their five banks of keyboards filled the stage with a highly anticipated album for 2007. In fact, they will start recording the new record in January, as they recently scrapped nine songs they had already recorded.

I hadn't heard of Beach House till I got this iTunes promo card they were handing out during CMJ good for 120 free songs from bands playing CMJ. I fell instantly in love with their track "Master Of None" playing it over and over and over. Great ambient pop
